A Conversation with former Hidden Child Dr. Noemi Mattis
Join us in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) to hear the story of Dr. Noemi Mattis, a former hidden child during the Nazi Regime.
Dr. Noémi Mattis was raised in Belgium. She graduated from Brussels University with a Doctor of Laws degree in 1958, at the age of 21, first in her class. Shortly after graduation she abandoned it all to follow her new husband Dan to the United States. Dan is a Belgian born physicist who has his own story as a refugee. A few years later Noémi resumed her education and obtained a PhD in Psychology in 1973 from Columbia University.
In 1980 Dan and Noémi moved to Salt Lake City where Noémi resumed her career as a psychologist. They have two children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
